I love spending may in the garden – its one of my favorite times of the year.

After a very harsh winter and slow start to spring, things are finally in full flow. I feel very lucky to have a garden where I live in the heart of a city. I have grown a lots of plants from seed or purchased them from www.stantonhall.co.uk when I’m up north. While I don’t have the green fingers of my parents, sister or brother in law, I do love to spend time in the garden. That along with exercise is the best therapy in an age where we spend too much time looking at a screen or sitting at a desk.

A month ago we got the offer of some old wooden garden furniture that was going to get thrown away. A weekend was well spent washing, sanding and oiling these tables and chairs and they have come up a real treat.

I have chilli plants, courgettes, Zinnias (dahlia mix), Clematis all in pots. While the flower beds are full of thyme, rosemary , strawberries, sage, loveage, chives, and a lop sides bay leaf tree I tried to shape myself ( the less said about him the better). After last year I had to add some verbena bonariensis to the garden. It grows around a meter tall with lovely purple flowers that the insects love so I’m hoping mine won’t die! I have also planted some delphinium and a echinops as I loved to work with these plants when I was working as a florist.

… that said i’m back out in to the garden..
